AFA AIMS: Advocates to Inspire Military Service

AFA AIMS connects local Association volunteers with Air Force Recruiting Service. Find the right starting point for a Chapter, family, service member, or recruiter.

What is AFA AIMS?

Advocates to Inspire Military Service (AIMS) is a partnership between the Air & Space Forces Association and the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service. AFA describes it as a way for its Chapters and members to support local recruiting relationships and help people understand Air Force and Space Force service. AIMS is a community outreach program; a Chapter volunteer does not replace an official recruiter or determine eligibility to serve.

How can an AFA Chapter or member take part?

AFA's live AIMS page links a map of participating Chapters and recruiting squadrons, a way for an organization to join that map, and the AIMS Toolbox for outreach. Start with the AFA Connect Chapter directory to find a local Chapter, then use AFA's official page for the current map, materials, and participation instructions. A directory listing alone does not establish that a Chapter participates in AIMS.

What can a Chapter volunteer use from the AIMS Toolbox?

AFA’s live toolbox groups leader orientation materials, speaking examples, Chapter-and-squadron engagement resources, and links to current Air Force recruiting information. A volunteer preparing a career-day talk or local recruiting conversation can use it to find AFA’s own materials, then check the linked official service sources for facts that may change. The toolbox is not a substitute for a recruiter’s guidance about an individual applicant. For the Chapter’s public listing and nearby organizations, use our Chapter directory; for operations forms and leader training, use Field Leader Resources.

What if I am a parent, service member, or recruiter?

  • Parents and loved ones: AFA points families toward its member community and support resources. Our membership guide explains the available AFA membership paths; a recruiter is the source for individual service requirements.
  • Airmen and Guardians: AFA invites service members to tell their own stories about military service. Use the official AIMS page for its current sharing guidance.
  • Air Force recruiters: AFA's map identifies Chapters and members who have volunteered to help locally. Confirm a contact and any activity through AFA and your recruiting organization before planning an event.

How is this different from legislative advocacy?

AIMS focuses on awareness of military service and local recruiting connections. AFA's advocacy work separately explains its published policy priorities. The AFA mission guide shows how both fit within the Association's broader work.
