Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026. How this public website and its Joy feedback tools handle information.
This notice explains how the public AFAConnect.org website and its Joy feedback tools handle information. The separate AFA Connect mobile and member application may have additional notices for its own account features. If you follow a link to AFA.org, an app store, or another service, that service's policy applies there.
What we collect
- Website visits: our hosting and security provider receives technical request data, such as IP address and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. Google Analytics measures page visits and outbound-link clicks and may use its own cookies.
- Joy conversations and feedback: we save the messages you send, Joy's replies, your confirmed feedback or unanswered question, the page where it was submitted, and any screenshot or video you choose to attach. Feedback is not posted publicly by default. You can use Joy without giving a name or email address.
- Approximate context: when a Joy question or feedback ticket is created, we may save an approximate city, region, and country supplied by our hosting provider, plus a broad device type and operating system derived from your browser. We do not save your raw IP address or full browser identifier in the ticket.
- Optional contact: if you request follow-up or use a website form, we receive the details you provide, such as name, email, phone, chapter interest, and message. Approved team members use their email addresses to receive private board sign-in links.
- Dictation: if you choose voice-to-text, your short recording is sent for transcription and the resulting text is returned to your chat. Screenshots and videos are stored with the feedback you submit.
Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, Social Security numbers, classified information, or other sensitive operational information through Joy or website forms. This public website does not take membership payments.
How we use and share information
We use this information to operate and secure the site, respond to support and membership-interest requests, answer AFA questions from public sources, review feedback on a private team board, improve the service, and measure site performance. Unanswered questions may be emailed to AFA Connect support for research. If you opt into follow-up, the team may use your details to reply.
Service providers process information for us: Cloudflare hosts the site and stores Joy records and attachments; OpenAI processes Joy messages and optional dictation; Resend delivers sign-in and follow-up email; Google Analytics measures website activity; and Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect forms. We do not sell Joy conversations or feedback, and we do not publish private tickets as public posts. Public AFA news and directory material is separate from visitor feedback.
Cookies and controls
Joy uses a secure browser cookie to keep an anonymous conversation available, and approved reviewers use a short-lived secure sign-in cookie. Google Analytics may set first-party measurement cookies. You can restrict cookies in your browser; doing so may interrupt Joy or team sign-in. Our site analytics script honors a browser's Do Not Track setting. Third-party services may have their own controls.
Retention and protection
Feedback, conversations, and attachments are kept for team review until removed through the private board or a verified deletion request; we do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion date. Support emails remain in the support mailbox according to its retention settings. Providers may retain technical logs under their own policies. We use access controls and encrypted connections, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and requests
You can decline optional follow-up, avoid attaching files, or stop using Joy. To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you submitted, email [email protected]. We may need to verify that a request concerns your own information and may retain records where required for security or legal reasons. This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.
Updates and contact
We will post material changes here with a new effective date. Questions about this notice can be sent to [email protected] or through our contact page.
